Four months ahead of #MatSafety2023, our Head of Research and Development, Sara Ledger, shares her thoughts about this year’s event, including what she’ll be hoping delegates take away from a day of learning together for a safer maternity future.
This year’s National Maternity Safety Conference follows hot on the heels of the sold-out maternity safety conference in September of last year.
We’ve put together a programme which aims to provide a tonic to the current unsettled and overloaded maternity and neonatal system. The aim of the sessions is to showcase best practice and innovations, give practical ideas to go away with, and celebrate excellence.
The conference will focus on sharing best practice and solutions to create safer and better care. It will follow several themes:
- Listening & The Power of Being Heard
- Safety Culture
- Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility
- Reducing Mortality & Morbidity
We’ve worked with a multi-professional working group, whilst also checking-in with our Multi-Professional Advisory Panel, and our Family Voices Group to ensure that all voices are represented in the programme development. As such, we’ve ended up with a programme which speaks to what maternity safety needs – it puts the families at the centre of discussions, it has evidence-based safety and improvement strategies at its core, and brings inclusivity, accessibility, and equity to the centre-stage.
We’ve also taken on board all the feedback you’ve given us over the last few conferences, and so we’re sure that this will be the best conference yet!
