We are heartbroken to share that Baby Lifeline has learned of the passing of Professor Tim Draycott on 24th November. Tim was not only an extraordinary leader in maternity safety but also a friend and inspiration to so many. His dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to improving care have left an indelible mark on our community and the lives of countless families.
Tim was a highly respected Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at North Bristol NHS Trust, immediate past Vice President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and leader of the PROMPT training programme, among many remarkable achievements.
Tim was also a longstanding friend of Baby Lifeline, traveling to Kuwait with a 23-strong clinical team in 2004 to deliver training to Iraqi and Kuwaiti health professionals in partnership with army humanitarian units and the British Embassy.
Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Tim Draycott. Today, I find myself reflecting on fond memories of Tim and our remarkable trip to Kuwait in 2004.
Working alongside Baby Lifeline’s founder, obstetrician Charles Cox, the British Ambassador to Kuwait, Chris Wilton, and his wife Dianne Wilton MBE (now a Baby Lifeline Patron), we raised over £100,000 in sponsorship to deliver a three-day multiprofessional conference. Thirty-five Iraqi clinicians were able to travel to Kuwait from across Iraq after we successfully secured visas—a significant achievement at the time.
The project was an extraordinary venture, and Tim played a vital role as part of the teaching team. His expertise and dedication left a lasting impact. I will always cherish these memories and hold Tim’s family, friends, and colleagues in my thoughts during this difficult time.”
