Baby Lifeline has now donated over £3,120,000 of medical aid to Ukraine.
In March 2022, the charity launched the Ukraine Appeal to help provide vital medical aid to support pregnant women, their unborn and newborn babies, affected by the conflict.
The most recent supplies provided were sent in mid-July and included fully equipped hospital beds, medical benches, blood glucose monitors, various wound dressings and cardioline ECG machines, and more. This delivery officially now puts Baby Lifeline’s total over the £3 million mark.
Three consignments before this delivered vital medical equipment to Mykolaiv at the end of May. Learn more about all the medical aid we’ve provided to Ukraine since 2022 here.
“We are thrilled that our Ukraine Appeal has not only reached the £3 million mark but surpassed it. Thank you to everyone who have supported this appeal so far, either by donating funds or equipment, or indeed their time.
“We will continue to do everything we can to provide vital aid for maternity services, pregnant women and newborn babies in Ukraine.”
Baby Lifeline’s CEO, Judy Ledger MBE
Our ‘man on the ground’, John McKenna, who drives equipment from the UK to Ukraine and distributes the aid donated has said:
“Waking around and speaking with victims, seeing pain in their tears, seeing where children and families lived. I have seen many buildings before damaged, and this time I spoke with victims and people who were there or who lived in apartments – I saw the tears and pain in their eyes, I heard the fear in their voices. It is terrorism on completely innocent children.
“This is why we need urgently to get medical supplies to areas all over Ukraine. Anything medical is a priority at this time, please, please give what you can.”
