Ahead of the publication of the Independent Investigation into East Kent Maternity Services on Wednesday (19 October 2022), Baby Lifeline has shared a recording of Derek Richford, grandfather of Harry Richford, speaking at its National Maternity Safety Conference on 22 September 2022.
Derek gave a summary of what happened following the death of his grandson in 2017 at seven days old, following gross failings at the East Kent Hospitals Trust.
The East Kent report, led by Baby Lifeline Honorary President Dr Bill Kirkup, followed tireless campaigning by families, and was commissioned by NHS England and NHS Improvement in February 2020.
