Announcing the National Maternity Safety Conference 2025 Programme

We are proud to reveal the full programme for the sixth annual National Maternity Safety Conference, taking place on 25th September 2025 at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham.

📅 This week marks just 3 months to go until the big day!

Our conference programme has been shaped by direct input from stakeholders across the maternity care landscape. From NHS professionals and policymakers to bereaved families and lived experience voices, we’ve built the programme around the topics and perspectives that matter most. Your feedback from previous events has played a key role in informing both the structure of the day and the selection of speakers.

In a year where maternity services remain under national scrutiny, following the recent announcement of a rapid review into NHS maternity and neonatal services, the 2025 conference is more timely and necessary than ever.

This year’s theme, Shaping the Future of Maternity Care Together, reflects our commitment to progress. The programme brings together leading clinicians, researchers, parents, charities, and change-makers to explore how we turn insight into action. Sessions will cover:

  • Inclusion, access, and communication

  • Reducing mortality and morbidity

  • Workforce and culture

  • The Future of Maternity Safety

We have carefully selected our speakers to ensure a range of experiences and perspectives. Many are leading or contributing to improvement initiatives across the UK, some will be sharing local success stories with national impact, and others will challenge us to think differently about systemic change.

We worked with our Multi-Professional Advisory Panel, our Family Voices Group, and other advisors and honorary presidents to make sure that the themes and topics are relevant and timely. We also paid attention to feedback from previous years: for example, you liked hearing quality improvement projects from frontline professionals, and perspectives from those with lived experience, alongside talks from national experts, so these have been interweaved throughout the day.

Importantly, we have designed this year’s agenda to respond directly to the challenges that maternity services continue to face. It is a space for reflection, but also for practical solutions, shared learning, and connection.

In light of the rapid national maternity investigation, we will also be highlighting the importance of transparency, co-production, and working together in building a safer future for all families and staff. The need for change has long been recognised, now we must come together to deliver it.

We are excited to welcome delegates from across the UK to engage with our expert speakers, network with peers, and be part of a growing movement to improve maternity care.
