Baby Lifeline is thrilled to announce two new Ambassadors – Jamie Thomas King and Nadine Montgomery. Both ambassadors are motivated by their own personal stories.
Jamie Thomas King is an English-American Actor known for his roles in TV shows “The Tudors”, “Mad Men” and “Call The Midwife”. Since the preventable death of his baby son Benjamin in 2016, Jamie has been challenging healthcare systems around the world and advocating for improvements in the culture of safety.
“The most gut-wrenching part of losing our baby Benjamin was knowing that his death was preventable.
When I learn about parents with similar experiences who have risen up and fought to make a difference, my despair is diminished. I am in awe of those warriors who have managed to turn personal tragedy into positive change. People like Judy Ledger – who for forty years has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and standards for maternity care.
I am honoured and inspired to be an Ambassador for Baby Lifeline. I believe strongly in this charity, and the work they do, and I’m eager to join forces in our shared mission to improve safety in maternity for mothers, babies and frontline maternity professionals. Together I hope we can make preventable baby loss a thing of the past.”
Nadine Montgomery is a law graduate and inspirational maternity rights campaigner.
In 2015 Nadine won her case at the Supreme Court, drawing fresh attention to informed consent. The case, together with Nadine’s campaigning, have resulted in a national shift in approach to consent and informed choice in maternity services.
“I am absolutely honoured to become an Ambassador for the unique charity Baby Lifeline. Judy Ledger, who has fought tirelessly to give every mother and baby the best possible outcome for nearly forty years is a true inspiration to me. From my own experience, there is nothing more devastating than uncovering that your own birth tragedy was entirely preventable. However, I take comfort from knowing that positive changes were made ensuring that no other family will endure what we did. I am really looking forward to joining forces and working with the Baby Lifeline team in our joint mission of improving safety in maternity care. Out of our own tragedy, we find our life’s purpose.”
Baby Lifeline CEO, Judy Ledger said:
“Jamie and Nadine are two truly inspirational people who have done incredible work to push for positive changes, to help improve maternity care for others. Baby Lifeline is deeply honoured to have their support and we look forward to working together towards our goal of improving maternity safety for mums, babies and healthcare professionals.”
