“We were put under the preterm prevention clinic after a late miscarriage in 2021. We met with the team at Wythenshawe Hospital, and they gave us a full debrief on what had happened and how we would move forward in a future pregnancy. The team were always on hand to offer guidance, support and answer any concerns we might have.
When I got pregnant a second time, the team were always in touch to check on me and all the extra appointments made me feel at ease going into this pregnancy. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them – from co-ordinating other appointments to minimize my hospital visits, arranging for antibiotics whenever I had infections, to explaining the situation with my pregnancy and putting us at ease we were in safe hands.
I had the same issues in the second pregnancy with my cervix shortening so the team put me forward for a cerclage. Although this helped this did not fully hold all the way. The team were always suggesting new ideas such as Arabin pessary and never gave up. My son was born at 32 weeks and is an active 1 year old now and I have no doubt that was thanks to the preterm prevention clinic. Even the aftercare for any future pregnancies, as I am currently in the process of having a transabdominal cerclage put in.
Nothing is ever too much trouble for this team and my family cannot thank them enough!”
