We thank our amazing project founder funders...
The Fawsley Birth Centre

We cannot thank the Fawsley Birth Centre enough.

The Fawsley Birth Centre kindly funded the start up work and trial of our community midwives’ bags. The bag is now in most UK NHS Trusts, and receiving some incredible feedback from frontline community midwives.

When deciding to close their Trust, they looked at many charities that would be closely aligned to their vision. Baby Lifeline was thrilled to be that chosen charity after presenting the concept of the more standardised community home delivery bag.

Just under £30K was passed to Baby Lifeline, and the development of the bags and this money was used to fund a trial in 9 sites across the UK and Channel Islands.

About The Fawsley Birth Centre

The Fawsley Birth Centre Trust was set up by a small group in memory of Jenny Edgar’s husband Ken Butcher who died when their son was 10 years old.

We wanted to be able to offer an alternative birth experience for women whilst following all necessary safety measures. We managed to raise a reasonable amount but we felt that our ideas were ahead of their time, and owing to ill health and living in different places and countries, we decided to disband and look for a charity that was involved with childbirth and making it safer and better for babies and mothers.

Our funding helped Baby Lifeline develop these amazing Community Midwife bags which are now in most UK NHS Trusts. We were very impressed with Judy Ledger and her Baby Lifeline team and always felt that out of small beginnings this project would achieve greatness.

We have been overwhelmed on hearing that NHS England’s newly appointed Chief Midwife Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent OBE has approved the community midwife bags and applied for funding of circa £500,000 for these bags. Over 800 bags and trollies have been dispatched this year alone!

We could not have wished for more and congratulate Judy and her team for their hard work and the success of this project.
