Michelle Hemmington co-founded the Campaign for Safer Births (CfSB), following the preventable death of her son, Louie, in 2011, during term labour.
Since that time, she’s been a leading advocate for the independent investigation of late term stillbirths and for improvements in maternity safety in general.
In 2018, Michelle and the CfSB successfully lobbied Tim Loughton MP to include a clause in his Private Members Bill to give Coroners the power to investigate late term stillbirths, which the Government is currently considering.
Michelle has given oral evidence at the Health and Social Care Committee, Safety of Maternity Services in England, delivered training to the Coronial Service, and was a parent representative on the RCOG Each Baby Counts Advisory Group.
She appeared in the baby loss documentary, ’Still Loved’, and is regularly featured in national media coverage on issues relating to improvements in stillbirth and maternity rights.
