Linda Bassett

Linda Bassett is a Patron of Baby Lifeline, and became involved in the charity’s work because of her role as Nurse Phyllis Crane in the BBC series Call the Midwife. Linda launched the charity’s well-regarded Community Midwife Bag, which is now established as the home birth bag used by most midwives across the UK and beyond. She is an ambassador the charity’s Ukraine Appeal, which has been sending the Community Midwife Bags, as well as other vital aid, to war-torn areas of Ukraine. 

Linda has been an actress for over three decades in television, film, and theatre. Other than her work in Call the Midwife, her most famous roles have been in films Calendar Girls, East is East, television series Larkrise to Candleford, Sense and Sensibility, and a number of Royal Shakespeare Company productions.
