Kirsty is a consultant anaesthetist at Manchester Foundation Trust where she specialises in obstetric anaesthesia. She is lead for obstetric simulation and chair of the MFT simulation faculty. 

Kirsty has a Master’s in medical education and has held a number of roles including College Tutor, Training Programme Director and Associate Director of Medical Education. She has published and contributed to a range of anaesthesia books, including Core Topics in Obstetric Anaesthesia, Decision making and Simulation in Obstetrics, Maternal Acute Illness Management and Handbook of Clinical Anaesthesia. 

She is an anaesthetic clinical advisor for the Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations programme, Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association council member (2010-2025), RCOA council member (2025 – ) and lead editor for the OAA Quick Reference Handbook for Obstetric emergencies.
