After losing my son Louis during what should have a been a straightforward caesarean section, I was compelled to find the reasons as to why this operation went so tragically wrong. Unfortunately, the NHS stance was ‘nothing to see here’; and made no commitment to changing any practices that could prevent other families from experiencing such tragedies.
As a result, I embarked on a six-year-long private legal case, which highlighted, not just the errors that were made, but shone a light on the lack of joint decision making between patients and medical staff.
I am delighted to have this opportunity to join the Family Voices Group for Baby Lifeline. I would like to contribute in some way to making births safer for other families and I’m particularly keen to raise awareness around deeply impacted heads, and the training that could help prevent tragedies from occurring in the future.
