Felicity Plaat is a consultant anaesthetist at Queen Charlotte’s & Hammersmith Hospitals in London, specialising in obstetric anaesthesia. Areas of interest include high-risk obstetrics, team- based training, medicolegal and ethical aspects of anaesthesia.

She has run workshops, seminars and training courses in emergency obstetric care in resource poor and conflict zones across the world.

She is Clinical Quality Advisor to the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and Chair of their Ethics Co and joint chair of the Safety Committee. She is an assessor for MBRRACE, advisor to NICE and MNSI and a member of the working party for MOET [Managing obstetric emergencies & trauma]. She is past president of the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association.

She sits on the editorial board of International Journal of Obstetric Anaesthesia. Currently her focus is on multidisciplinary management of the obstetric critically ill and victims of trauma.
