Dr Chris Dewhurst
Chris is a Consultant Neonatologist and the Clinical Director for Family Health at Liverpool Women’s Hospital where they deliver approximately 8,000 babies per year and have a tertiary fetal medicine unit.
Chris is also the Clinical Director for the Liverpool Neonatal Partnership, bringing together Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to provide medical, surgical and cardiac for neonates across the city. Here they are building a new neonatal intensive care facility which will be the first in the UK to have single family rooms, resulting in a service with 66 cots available across the city.
Chris has been an RCPCH college tutor, trainee programme director, NLS course director, RCPCH clinical examiner and Senior Theory examiner for the RCPCH board.
Chris is passionate about minimising health inequalities, particularly in relation to impact of deprivation on neonatal outcomes.
