Cerian Llewelyn

Cerian is currently Interim Head of Midwifery at Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Cerian is focused on the value of education, system-learning and psychological safety in order to improve outcomes for women, birthing people and their babies and consistently champions patient safety across maternity services. Cerian has a passion for ensuring that inclusivity and equality remain a priority across maternity services and understands the importance of ensuring the voices of service users are deeply embedded within maternity services. 

Cerian and the team at Hywel Dda University Health Board have won a number of national awards, most recently the 2025 Baby Lifeline Awards for Promoting Collaboration and Teamworking and Achieving Excellence Through Service Improvements as a result of the improvement project that increased communication, collaboration and created an environment of psychological safety around the risk and governance process.  

Cerian is an experienced and compassionate leader, having received a Florence Nightingale Leadership Scholarship and she was a finalist for the Nursing Times, Midwife of the Year in 2024.
