Akeisha Robinson
Trainee Matron for Hospital Services
Akeisha Robinson trained as a midwife at the University of West London after leaving the Armed Forces where she served for 7 years.
As a newly qualified midwife Akeisha worked in a rotational post at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. She described her passion and coming into her own as a midwife when she rotated to the postnatal ward. “I wanted to develop initiatives which would make the ward efficient and save time which could be given back in care provided to women.”
She later on took on a role as a Practice Development Midwife. “It was during this time I was introduced to international recruitment of midwives.”
It was an area not many Trust were familiar with and so I had to create a process with no real benchmark. I feel proud now that it has been so successful at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and that others are using my model as their guide”
Akeisha currently works as a Trainee Matron for Hospital services at the RBH.
