An independent, year-long inquiry into the safety of maternity services
concludes that the overwhelming majority of births are safe despite
growing pressures on maternity professionals. However it warns that the
lack of a systematic approach to ensuring safety across maternity
services creates unnecessary risks.
The inquiry, commissioned by the King’s Fund, recommends a range of
practical changes that it believes would secure safer births. It
includes recommendations that relate specifically to maternity teams and
you are invited to give your response.
