Justgiving
We’ve teamed up with Justgiving.com,
the
Using Justgiving saves us costs and
reduces our admin burden, so going online is by far the most efficient way
of supporting us.
It’s easy to make a single or monthly
donation with a credit or debit card online:
Justgiving reclaims Gift Aid
automatically and pays your donation directly to us at the end of every
week, and the site is 100% secure.
Justgiving also makes it easy to
raise money: you can create an online fundraising page in minutes to collect
donations for any sponsored event or appeal.
You can create your own for any
event at
www.justgiving.com/babylifeline/raisemoney
Fundraising pages are just like paper
sponsorship forms, except they’re online, so you don’t have to traipse
around collecting cash and cheques. Simply personalise your page with a
photo and message and email the web address to all your contacts. Friends,
family, work colleagues and anyone else, from anywhere in the world, can
then make a donation using your page.
You can create a fundraising page for
absolutely anything. You could get sponsored to run, swim, cycle, get fit,
grow a moustache or have your head shaved. The only limit is your
imagination.
1. Personalise your message
The best fundraising pages tell a really good story. Let people know why
you’re going to the trouble of raising money, and they’re much more likely
to take the time to donate. Explain why you have chosen to support Baby
Lifeline, some of your sponsors may not have heard of us so you need to tell
them why you are going to the effort of raising funds for us.
2. Add photos and video
A personal photo makes your page much more engaging. You can also add
Youtube Videos that, along with photos will help to bring your page to life.
The more interesting, compelling and imaginative the more likely your
supporters are to send your page on to their friends.
3. Tell everyone about your page
Before you email your entire address book, ask your closest friends and
family to donate first. An empty page can be a bit intimidating, so having a
couple of donations on the page should encourage other sponsors. People tend
to match the amounts already listed on the page, so if they’re generous
ones, all the better! Email your other contacts in groups (e.g. colleagues,
running club, friends overseas, etc) personalising your message each time.
4 - Put a link in your email signature
Add your page’s web address, or one of Justgiving's 'sponsor me' badges, to
your email signature. That way, every email you send raises awareness of
your fundraising and attracts more donations.
5 - Get a Widget or Badge
You can add an animated Justgiving Widget to your website, Blog, Facebook or
MySpace page to advertise your page.
