Virgin London Marathon 2012

Samantha Lippett

My name is Samantha Lippett, in 2009 my younger sister Jacqui gave birth to my nephew Alex 25 weeks into her pregnancy. Alex was born on 30th March 2009 at Luton and Dunstable Hospital weighing just 1lb 13oz. Luton have an excellent NICU which could cater for such a premature baby. Alex stayed there for 2 and a half months before being transferred back to Peterborough District Hospital. The medical staff at Luton and Peterborough were amazing, as well as caring so brilliantly for Alex they were a great support to my sister and her partner too. Alex is now a gorgeous, happy two year old who has no problems at all.

We as a family know how lucky we are to have such a successful outcome and it is all thanks to the amazing medical staff and equipment that was available to Alex. I decided to run the London Marathon in 2012 for Baby Lifeline to raise money to help other mothers and babies to have access to the same amazing medical staff and vital equipment that Jacqui and Alex had access to.
