CEMACH
Annual CEMACH Reports, funded by the Department of Health, have been published since 1992. The conclusions of the 1999 Report led the charity to focus it's efforts on raising funds to produce an informative interactive educational video series for use by junior doctors and midwives. With assistance from leading experts in the field of maternal health, Baby Lifeline has produced a series of nine videos, the 'B.I.R.T.H' series, which has been purchased by maternity units all over the UK. The series has received endorsments from The Royal College of Midwives and The Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecologists. Furthermore, Baby Lifeline is the only chairty in the field of perinatel care to have produced such a practical response to the findings of CEMACH.
Baby Lifeline is now holding regular conferences on issues of current concern in maternal health care. The first of these conferences 'Reducing Obstetric Risk' held at Coventry University in October 2000 was extremely well recieved. It was certificated by The Royal College of Midwives for attendance by its members. The programme addressed such problems as increasing litigation in the NHS, responses to CEMACH and the achievement of clinical governance.
